Mobile Studio: Handbuilding – July 2024

$90.00 – $130.00Hand build in the comfort of your own home with this rental package. Pickup the mobile studio between June 23rd and July 1st and return it by August 4th. You can also customize the kit with additional services.
Mobile Studio includes:
- A bag of recycled clay (approximately 12 lbs/5.4 kilos)
- Rib assortment
- Sponge assortment
- Scoring tool
- Knife/needle tool
- Rolling pin
- Work surface
- 2 ware boards
- One gallon bucket
- Large sponge
- Damp box
- One bisque (2 shelves) and one glaze firing (3 shelves)
Optional add ons
- Two 30-minute virtual handbuilding lessons ($50 – sliding scale available)
- Slab roller and/or extruder access ($10 per hour)
- Tool checkout, including cookie cutters, wood forms, anvils, etc. (see Tool Library)
- Additional firings (see Kiln Firing Service)
- Glaze library access (fees start at $2 per piece)
SLIDING SCALE PRICING
Sliding scale pricing is how we balance the equity scales and we use it to make ceramics education accessible and affordable to all. There are four tiers for pricing. When signing up for a mobile studio package, please pay what feels right to you and your current finances. This is a trust based system, only you will know what feels comfortable and possible. BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ are encouraged to pay the Solidarity and Equity Tiers.
Full-price Tier – This is the actual cost for the mobile studio.
Solidarity Tier – This is a moderately discounted cost for the mobile studio.
Equity Tier – This is a further discounted cost for the mobile studio.
Pay-it-Forward Tier – This is a moderately higher cost for the mobile studio. This tier helps us continue to offer sliding scale pricing as well as offer low cost workshops.
