Open Studio 2025 Monitor Registration
January 20 - December 20
FreeThroughout the year, students will have time to come in to practice pottery on their own. Monitoring is an essential component to help keep the studio in order during this time. Monitors will be trained on the upkeep of the studio so that they will be comfortable monitoring the studio and safely operating equipment and tools in that studio.
Studio monitors will be required to:
- Open up the studio (clear buckets, mops, etc.)
- Help orient up to three people in the studio
- Monitor the use of equipment
- Get glaze slips from students as needed
- Reinforce safety procedures and best practices
- Clean up and close down studio
- Help keep studio clean
Studio monitors volunteer in the studio during their chosen days and in return they:
- Free open studio access during the four hour session in which they volunteer
- There is a 30 minute window at the start and end of the four hour period to allow for opening and closing tasks when there are no other students
- Unlimited free recycled clay, glaze, and firings for items made during open studio
We ask that studio monitors commit to volunteering for at least two shifts during the open studio period. Monitors must attend an in-person orientation each open studio period to go over any new requirements. This can be scheduled for any 30 minute session before/after class, or another convenient time.
